From buzzing city centre locations to relaxed beachside properties, these are the best new hotels to open in Asia for winter 2024
The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok

A Ritz-Carlton hotel has opened in Bangkok this winter and welcomes families with a kids’ club.
Promising plenty of glitz, the luxury property is located in the One Bangkok skyscraper overlooking Lumpini Park in the heart of the city.
Ritz-Carlton has described the opening as “pivotal” for the brand as it debuts in the Thai capital.
The building facade is designed to maximise the views of the park and city skyline ; guest rooms boast floor-to-ceiling windows and some have private loggias and terraces.
Room types range from 50sqm deluxe rooms to 102sqm Gardenia suites and 127sqm Marigold and Amaranth suites. Or plump for the 389sqm rooftop Ritz-Carlton penthouse suite.
Three dining spaces include Duet by Michelin-starred French chef David Toutain, the more laid-back Lily’s and Caleo for cocktails and afternoon teas. There’s also a Ritz-Carlton spa, Ritz-Carlton kids’ club and Ritz-Carlton club lounge.
Cheval Blanc Seychelles
The all-villa resort is on Mahe Island in the Seychelles
This stunning, all-villa resort is set luxuriously on a white sand beach in the Indian Ocean and is now ready to receive its first guests.
This is the sixth Maison Cheval Blanc and it's located on Mahe Island in the Seychelles. The 52 villas offer uninterrupted sea views with 24 set on the beach and 28 in the hills and each boasts a 12.5m private pool. Villa configurations range from around 200sqm to a palatial 600sqm.
Five dining spaces comprise Le White for local flavours, Italian-styled Vivamento by the resort pool, beach club Sula, Mizumi for Japanese dishes and French cuisine at Le 1947.
Spa Cheval Blanc uses Guerlain products for specially created treatments inspired by Mahe Island. Meanwhile, children can enjoy Le Carousel, a generous play space with a water park and fun outdoor activities.

Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing

This stunning new Mandarin Oriental property marks the group’s tenth hotel in Greater China and its 41st property overall.
Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing is located in the heart of a traditional hutong neighbourhood within the city’s cultural artery and comprises 42 courtyard houses. It is steps away from the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven.
Each of the houses is unique and extremely luxurious; the houses boast high ceilings, large courtyards and plenty of natural light, with designs reflecting Beijing’s four seasons. The three-bedroom Peking Mansion is at the top of the tree, while one-bedroom Junior Courtyards offer 103 sqm of luxe living.
Dining spaces include Cantonese and Chaozhou cuisine at Yan Garden by Michelin-starred chef Fei, TIAO cocktail bar with a Beijing-inspired food bar and live DJ sets and all-day Italian-inspired dining at VICINI.
The spa meanwhile offers private treatment suites, a healing space, a tea house and a fitness centre.

Raffles at Galaxy Macau

This is Raffles' largest property in the world, with 450 luxuriously decorated suites and high-end dining spots that include a rendition of the Raffles’ infamous Long Bar.
Raffles at Galaxy Macau is located close to Old Taipa Village on the east promenade of Galaxy Macau with views of Macau’s skyline. A 15m glass bridge links the property’s two towers and looks down over the Grand Resort Deck.
The luxe suites feature living room fireplaces, wooden flooring and private heated pools and each suite is also equipped with a Samsung Frame television. Facilities at the hotel include Raffles legendary butler service and the world’s first speakeasy Long Bar.
The hotel has also unveiled the first international restaurant of three-Michelin starred Japanese sushi master Masaaki Miyakawa, ‘Sushi Kissho by Miyakawa’. An elite team of chefs select fresh, seasonal ingredients direct from Japan’s growers and fishermen to serve an Omakase experience. Alongside it sits Japanese teppanyaki specialist, ‘Teppanyaki Shou’, showcasing Japanese culinary expertise at counters of solid rock. Teppanyaki Shou is led by a team of Japan’s leading teppan grill chefs.

Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa

Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa is hospitality giant Marriott Hotels’ inaugural resort in the Thai holiday destination of Khao Lak.
The Andaman Coast resort is steps from Bang-Lut Beach and offers rooms, suites and villas, including ground floor rooms with direct lagoon pool access. There’s also a choice of family-sized suites and pool villas.
Activities at the family-led resort include beachfront yoga, bike hire, a 24-hour fitness centre and plenty of watersports activities on the beach. For pint-sized guests, there’s a kids’ club and water playground to enjoy.
Dining options at the resort run to seven dining spots, including Thai Curry Sala for local dishes, an Italian restaurant and Panasia Grill with fire-grilled meats and seafood.
An opening special offer sees rooms priced from THB7,212 per night including breakfast and resort credits. This offer is valid on stays from November 8.
Dorsett Kai Tak, Hong Kong
Flagship hotel Dorsett Kai Tak has opened by Hong Kong's Kai Tak Sports Park
Dorsett Kai Tak has opened adjacent to the city's brand new 50,000-seater stadium, which is slated to launch next March, boasting state-of-the-art sports facilities, shopping and dining.
This is Dorsett Hospitality’s flagship hotel and the 373-room property will cater to both business and leisure travellers. Rooms include 21 room and suite configurations with balconies, 40 luxury suites and a wide range of interconnecting rooms. Two super-luxury suites include a presidential harbour view pool suite and a garden penthouse two-bedroom suite. The presidential suite has a private, ten-metre lap pool.
Facilities at Dorsett Kai Tak include an outdoor infinity pool with harbour views, a fitness centre, robot-led check-in and check-out, smart TVs in rooms and cashless dining.
The hotel will be partnering with local restaurants via its Dorsett Discoveries programme offering guests complimentary dining vouchers. On-site restaurants include Siete Ocho, an all-day Spanish Sichuan restaurant with alfresco garden dining and rooftop bar Jin Bo Law on the 15th floor.

Shangri-La Phnom Penh

Shangri-La debuted in the Cambodian capital on December 28 with the opening of Shangri-La Phnom Penh. The property is located in Koh Pich, a vibrant waterside city neighbourhood. The hotel is part of a striking tri-tower high-rise in Phnom Penh and offers rooms and suites with views of the Mekong, Tonle Sap and Tonle Bassac rivers that meet in Phnom Penh.
Dining spaces within the hotel include Kommune Dining serving authentic Khmer dishes such as beef lok lak and fish amok. In addition, there's a Shangri-La signature Chinese restaurant, Shang Palace, which is set to open later in 2025.
Further facilities include an infinity pool and wellness centre. However, amenities and facilities will open progressively over the next few months.
Phase one of the opening schedule began this week with a select number of rooms open for booking. Kommune Dining, Mekong Lounge and The Atelier are also all open for use.
The Standard, Singapore

The Standard Singapore opens this month and follows hot-on-the-heels of The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon and The Standard, Hua Hin.
The Singapore property is located on Orange Grove Road and steps from the UNESCO Botanical Gardens and the Orchard Road shopping district.
There are 143 keys over eight floors and all have floor-to-ceiling windows and pool views.
Channelling the neighbourhood greenery, The Garden on the first and second floors is lined with art installations and landscaped elements and leads to the hotel pool. This is also a great sunset-watching spot.
Dining spaces at the hotel include Kaya for a Japanese izakaya experience but using local Singaporean ingredients. The restaurant has an extensive sake and whisky menu. On the ground floor, the street-facing Cafe Standard serves up American-style dishes with wines and craft beers.
An opening offer include 15% off the Best Available Room-Only Rate, welcome drinks and a 20% dining discount on bookings made before December and on stays from December 15 to June 30, 2025.
The Londoner Grand, Macau
The Londoner Grand opens at the end of the year
Opening at the end of the year, The Londoner Grand replaces The Sheraton Grand and is a collaboration between Sands China, owner of The Londoner Macao, and Marriott International as the group's first Luxury Collection Hotel in Macau.
The new property will offer 2,405 rooms and suites and several new dining concepts. The Londoner Grand channels an "elegant London townhouse" style, inspired by London’s upmarket Mayfair district. A number of the suites will feature private terraces, children’s rooms, media rooms and private plunge pools. The property has been designed by Hong Kong design company, Peter Silling & Associates.
Five dining spots include Hampton Court, featuring international and Chinese buffet-style dining and Chelsea Garden for all-day dining, while The Conservatory will house a dim sum restaurant and tearoom, a sweet shop and a British pub. There will also be two Chinese restaurants, one serving Cantonese cuisine and the other specialising in Sichuan dishes.
Sands China sees the Londoner Grand as enhancing its The Londoner Macao property which, along with sister hotels The Venetian Macao and The Parisian Macao, will complete the Sands China integrated resort city.
The Londoner Grand opens later this winter.
NH Bangkok Sukhumvit Boulevard

NH Hotels & Resorts has opened its first property in Bangkok with NH Bangkok Sukhumvit Boulevard now ready for guests.
The 315-key property is located in the centre of Bangkok’s shopping and commercial district and 200m from the BTS SkyTrain. It’s a 30-minute drive from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports.
The hotel is a rebranding of a previous property and extensive renovations have been completed to rooms, lobby, restaurant and pool areas. There’s an all-day restaurant, lobby bar, pool bar, fitness centre and well-sized outdoor pool.
NH Hotels & Resorts is one of Minor Hotels’ eight brands. NH Bangkok Sukhumvit Boulevard is part of Minor’s strategy to cross-develop the originally Spanish-founded NH Hotels & Resorts into Asia.
The hotel’s Opening Offer includes room nights from THB3,299 per room per night including breakfast, complimentary room upgrade and late check-out.
The Sira, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Lombok
The Sira opens onto white-sand Sire Beach in Indonesia's West Nusa Tenggara
The Sira, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, has opened in West Nusa Tenggara province in Indonesia. The resort is located on Sire Beach and is 90 minutes from Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport.
The resort offers just 46 suites and 14 pool villas which blend local craftsmanship such as Javanese teak and handwoven fabrics from Lombok with contermporary touches. For a truly decadent stay, book the three-bedroom Beach House which opens to a private plunge pool with direct beach access. Alternatively, the Presidential Suite is a two-storey space with rooftop infinity pool and three bedrooms.
Dining spaces include The Island's Table, an all-day-dining restarant, Sija for alfresco bites by the pool and Medsa which serves Mediterranean-influenced dishes using local seafood and produce.
Facilities run to a 24-hour fitness centre, a two-level, 70m infinity pool set against an ocean backdrop and there's also a spa that uses Indonesian herbal treatments.
The white-sand beach looks out to Bali's Mount Agung and beyond the hotel grounds guests can visit Tiu Kelep Waterfall, Bayan Old Mosque and Sukarara Weaving Village.
