The vaccination programme for air crew began this morning in United Arab Emirates.
Pilots and cabin crew are first in line for Emirates' vaccination programme, which kicked-off this morning for employees based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Emirates Group's programme is being rolled out in coordination with the Dubai Health Authority and the Ministry of Health and Prevention and priority is being given to frontline employees, including cabin crew and flight deck.
The jabs used are provided by Pfizer BioNTech and China's Sinopharm and are being administered to employees at various company locations across the UAE. Appointments run 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
Emirates employees in the UAE can also opt to get inoculated free-of-charge as part of the government-led vaccination programme at designated medical centres and clinics.
According to research by Oxford University-based research group Our World In Data, the UAE is currently ranked second-highest in the world for vaccination rates, with 1.9 million vaccinations given to citizens and residents since December 2020. The UAE is aiming to inoculate more than half of its almost ten million population by the end of March.
