Emirates premium economy cabins were launched just three years ago
Emirates is prioritising its Hong Kong service with fully upgraded aircraft including premium economy cabins.
The refurbished Boeing 777 aircraft are part of a massive fleet upgrade by Emirates which kicked off in November 2022. This summer, new-look aircraft will be rolled out to eight more destinations on the Emirates network, starting with Lisbon and Dublin in June and Hong Kong in mid-July.
The new-look Emirates Boeing 777 features a four-class configuration headlined by the airlines’ signature premium economy and business class cabins. Business seats come in a 1-2-1 configuration with aisle access and space to relax and work. The planes will include 24 premium economy seats and 260 economy seats.
At present, Emirates travellers from Hong Kong have access to just three cabin classes on the Hong Kong to Dubai leg of their journey. Hong Kong is the second Chinese city to enjoy a premium economy cabin offering.
Further destinations to benefit from the retrofitted and refurbished planes include Maldives from June 1, Kolkata and Colombo from August 10 and Johannesburg and Cape Town in September.
Emirates US$5 billion fleet refurbishment programme is the aviation industry’s most ambitious retrofit undertaking and covers more than 220 planes. The airline plans to serve 44 cities with its refurbished fleet of Boeing 777s and Airbus 380s by September 2025.
