Up, up and away to Japan with Hong Kong Airlines
Hong Kong Airlines is making changes to its schedules ahead of the winter ski season to boost its Japan routes.
The airline confirmed this week that it will be increasing its Sapporo service to daily frequency and will be increasing its Tokyo Narita service to five times a week over the winter.
It will also be launching a new direct route to Sendai from December 18 which will operate three times a week.
Both Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport and Tokyo are gateways to some of Japan’s best ski terrains.
Sapporo is on the island of Hokkaido which is home to the popular Niseko ski area and receives some of the best powder in the world.
Numerous ski terrains are accessible by bullet train from Tokyo, including the popular resorts of Hakuba.
Meanwhile Sendai, the capital of Miyagi Prefecture, will be Hong Kong Airlines’ ninth Japanese destination. With a flight time of four hours, Sendai is renowned for its historical and cultural legacy and stunning natural scenery and is known as the ‘City of Trees’. From onsens to castles and delicious regional dishes, Sendai is an increasingly popular destination.
The Sendai route will operate on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, with flight HX584 taking off from Hong Kong at 9.35am and landing in Sendai at 2.35pm (local time). The return flight, HK585, leaves Sendai at 3.35pm, arriving in Hong Kong at 8pm.
