Hong Kong Airlines launches Beijing Daxing service

Hong Kong Airlines is the first local airline to offer a Beijing Daxing service.

Hong Kong Airlines is set to become the first local carrier to offer a service to Beijing’s Daxing airport.

From March 15, the airline will fly four times a week, becoming the first carrier in the territory to offer the Daxing route as well as to operate out of both of Beijing’s international airports.

Beijing Daxing International Airport launched just before the pandemic in the autumn of 2019. It is nicknamed ‘the starfish’ for its unusual design, which was the brainchild of the team of the world-renowned architect, Zaha Hadid. It cost almost US$12 billion to construct and has since won awards for best in size and region. It’s located 65 kms south of Beijing’s existing Capital International Airport and was designed to handle up to 200 million passengers a year, which would make it the world’s busiest airport.

Following the loosening of restrictions in mainland China, more flights are set to resume to meet the increasing demand for both local and international travel.

Hong Kong Airlines’ flight HX308 will take-off from Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok airport at 9.35am on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, arriving in Beijing Daxing at 12.55pm. The return flight, HX309, will depart Beijing at 1.55pm on the same days, landing in Hong Kong at 5.35pm.

Ticket reservations are now available via the Hong Kong Airlines website. Fortune Wings Club members will be able to redeem economy class award tickets to Beijing Daxing to receive 50% of the points used for award travel back. The redemption period begins from today until March 31 for travel dates between March 15 and April 30.

Hong Kong Airlines operates an all-Airbus fleet, flying to 25 destinations across the Asia Pacific region.
