Pre-flight testing opens at Hong Kong Airport

Hong Kong International Airport will soon have two and-side Covid testing facilities for departing passengers.

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has launched a Covid-19 testing service for departing passengers.

Biotech company Prenetics, which also runs a pre-flight testing service at London’s Heathrow airport, is offering rapid PCR tests for HK$499 per test.

Results are returned within two hours via email or SMS from a government-recognised, ISO 15189 accredited laboratory. According to Prenetics, the results can also be uploaded to digital health passes and are accepted anywhere a PCR test is required.

Travellers wanting to use the testing facility are recommended to book an appointment at the test centre at least four hours prior to boarding.

And later this month, Raffles Medical Group will also be opening a test facility at HKIA, but with a longer, 24-hour results turnaround.

Prenetics testing is available now at Terminal 1, L5, Counter A03 (opposite Arrivals Hall A) from 9.30am to 1.30pm and from 2.30 to 6.30pm. Bookings can be made up to two weeks in advance online.

The Raffles Medical Group testing centre will open on December 21 at the Airport Medical Centre on L6 (accessed by the lifts near L7 departures Aisle A), from 7am to 11.59pm. The test can be booked in advance via the Raffles Connect mobile app and costs HK$388.

Passengers are advised to book in advance for both tests.
