Hong Kong's MTR launches Tuen Mun Voyager sightseeing tours

Tuen Mun Voyager tours run every weekend and public holiday
Hong Kong’s MTR is setting off on its first-ever light rail sighseeing tour as it launches the 'Tuen Mun Voyager'.
Tuen Mun Voyager will embark on three different tours on weekends and public holidays with passengers able to enjoy unlimited stops on the themed routes.
Embracing the government’s ‘tourism is everywhere in Hong Kong’ motto, MTR hopes to unleash the “immense tourism potential” of the MTR system as well as promote travel by light railway.
Tuen Mun Voyager launches on February 22 and will operate a circular route within the Tuen Mun District in western Hong Kong, stopping at 12 selected stations for passengers to ‘hop on’ and ‘hop off’.
Six colourfully decorated trains will operate the service, making stops at Siu Hong, Kei Lun, Choy Yee Bridge, Shan King (South), Lung Mun, Butterfly, Melody Garden, Tuen Mun Ferry Pier, Tuen Mun Swimming Pool, Sam Shing, Town Centre and Tuen Mun.
The stops and their nearby attractions are highlighted on a downloadable Tuen Mun Voyager map.

Following the maps, passengers can enjoy a photography tour, a foodie tour or a family tour. The ‘Leisure Photography Tour’ takes in scenery including the blooming Bauhinia Variegata at Fu Tai Estate near Siu Hong, various bridges and murals and Butterfly Beach. Meanwhile, the ‘Foodie Tour’ highlights traditional dai pai dongs, Hakka restaurants and a fresh seafood market. The ‘Family Tour’ features Hakka culture at Kei Lun Wai, an indoor rock-climbing centre at Shan King (South) and Town Centre’s Tuen Mun Park Reptile House.
The HK$50 Light Rail Travel Pass Package entitles passengers to unlimited journeys on the Tuen Mun Voyager on the day they purchase the pass. The pass comes with assorted discount coupons and a themed photo frame.
“Riding on the recent trend of train travel, MTR demonstrates our commitment to promoting local tourism and fostering connectivity with the launch of Light Rail Sightseeing Tour - Tuen Mun Voyager,” said Jeny Yeung, managing director of Hong Kong Transport Services at MTR Corporation. “We hope to leverage on the strengths of MTR’s extensive transport network to better offer both Hong Kong locals and visiting travellers a convenient way to explore Tuen Mun’s unique charms and hidden gems.”
It’s hoped the tours will promote a deeper understanding of Hong Kong’s culture while boosting the local economy.
