Tingara is designed to resemble a nest in a jungle canopy
The stunning InterContinental Danang is amping up its culinary offerings with new chefs, menus and a brand new dining spot.
The five-star property will be launching a Japanese omakase teppanyaki and sushi restaurant at the end of this year. Tingara at InterContinental Danang will be perched at the highest level of the resort with dramatic views over the South China Sea and has been imagined by renowned international hotel design guru, Bill Bensley.
With a live kitchen, robata grill, counter and table seating and stunning sea views, diners will be able to enjoy the theatre of live teppanyaki cooking.
Tingara is derived from the Okinawan word for the Milky Way, or ‘river of stars’. Michelin-starred chef Junichi Yoshida hails from Okinawa and will helm the space alongside teppanyaki maestro Tetsuhiko Isozaki and sushi master, Tsuneyoshi Taira, using fresh seafood and Kuroge wagyu beef to conjure up a dining experience to remember.
Meanwhile, the resort's award-winning La Maison 1888 restaurant has welcomed a raft of new culinary staff including a new chef. Chef Christian Le Squer, a three-Michelin-starred chef and former Chef of the Year award winner, has taken over culinary leadership of La Maison. He will be working with Florian Stein, La Maison’s chef de cuisine and previously of Le Chambord in France, and beverage manager Jimmy Chang.
The resort’s new director of Culinary, Bruno Bruesch, will be overseeing the new culinary direction for La Maison as well as the resort’s other dining spaces, Citron, which showcases seasonal dishes from Vietnam, and beachside grill, Barefoot. He will be working closely with the team and leaning on a philosophy based around seasonality, sustainability, simplicity, quality and respect for tradition.
“Gastronomy has always been one of our key pillars,” said general manager Seif Hamdy. “By welcoming the world’s most talented and innovative culinary pioneers we’re pushing the boundaries even further and creating truly unparalleled experiences. We look forward to showcasing our exciting new menus in the coming weeks and months.”
