Jetstar Asia launches Singapore to Broome service

Broome in Western Australia is renowned for its dramatic ocean sunsets

Jetstar Asia has announced it will be launching a brand new route between Singapore and Broome in Western Australia.

Starting on June 25, the route is set to become the only international service flying directly to the outback beach town. Flights will operate twice a week between June and October, which is Broome’s dry season.

Broome, once the largest pearling port in the world, is located in Australia’s Kimberley region. The small town occupies a stretch of Indian Ocean coastline that is renowned for its stunning white-sand beaches, including the world-famous 22km Cable Beach, and for its dramatic sunsets.

International connections have been a long-held ambition for Broome,  which is geographically closer to Asia than to many Australian cities. It's a huge 2,000km north of Perth, the capital of Western Australia and currently, international passengers must transit through Perth to reach Broome.

“I want to thank the Western Australian Government and Broome International Airport for their ongoing support and collaboration to make this happen,” said Jetstar Asia chief executive officer John Simeone.

The Jetstar Asia service to Broome will take-off from Singapore on Tuesday at 7.20am and Saturday at 2.55pm, with return flights leaving Broome at 12.55pm on Tuesday and 8.25pm on Saturday. The flight-time is around four hours.

“The addition of Broome expands Changi’s connectivity to eight cities in Australia, making us the most connected gateway to Australia,” added Changi Airport Group’s executive vice president, Lim Ching Kiat.

Jetstar Asia will also be launching direct flights between Singapore and Perth later this year.

To celebrate the launch, Jetstar Asia is offering one-way fares from Singapore to Broome from SG$125. Go to jetstar.com for bookings.
