Luxury lodge Shinta Mani Mustang to open in Nepal

Dramatic views from the property's spa.

A luxury lodge offering curated experiences in one of the most dramatic locations on earth is set to open next spring.

Shinta Mani Mustang - A Bensley Collection lodge will be launching in Nepal, the first property in the Shinta Mani Hotels group to open outside of Cambodia. Renowned hotelier Bill Bensley previously opened Shinta Mani Angkor & Bensley Collection Pool Villas and, perhaps the world’s most luxurious glamping resort, Bensley Collection - Shinta Mani Wild in Cambodia’s Cardamom mountains.

Shinta Mani Mustang will offer an all-inclusive experience in the Himalayas. ‘Mustang’ means ‘Plain of Aspiration’ in Tibetan and the property is bordered by the Tibetan plateau. Shinta Mani Mustang will sit in an area known as The Forbidden Kingdom, the gateway to Tibet, surrounded by Buddhist monasteries and towering snow-capped mountains.

Personalised guest experiences lean on the traditions of local Sherpa hospitality and run from trekking, horse riding and rock climbing to cycling, archery, hiking and heli tours. Each activity is led by experienced Bensley Adventure guides who will take guests along rarely travelled trails, with dramatic rest stops to enjoy gourmet picnics.

Shinta Mani Mustang boasts incredible views from all windows and outdoor fire pits on the terrace enable night time star gazing. The 29-suite lodge has been designed as a traditional Tibetan home with open-plan bedrooms and living areas and separate bathrooms. Floor to ceiling windows make the most of the majestic mountain views.

The lodge’s Nilgiri Restaurant (named after nearby Nilgiri mountain) will serve modern Nepalese and Western dishes using locally sourced ingredients. The Aara bar has been named after a local Tibetan liquor.

A wellness centre will comprise two treatment rooms with plunge pools, steam rooms, saunas, showers and massage beds - and of course those stunning mountain views. The wellness programme is to be developed by a local eleventh generation Tibetan amchi doctor using traditional herbal medicines.

Shinta Mani Mustang - A Bensley Collection is slated to open on March 1, 2023. Rates start from US$1,700 per couple per night for a minimum five-night stay, including all food and beverage, private guided tours and excursions, unlimited spa treatments, a personal Bensley Adventure guide and transfers by air or road between Kathmandu and Jomson.
