Luxury hotel brand Rosewood has announced it will be opening a property in Hangzhou, China.

The 16-storey new-build hotel will be located in Wangjiang New City and is slated to launch in 2025. This will be Rosewood’s ninth hotel in Greater China, joining properties in Beijing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

Along with Rosewood Hangzhou, the Wangjiang New City development will include a K11 Art Mall, offices and workspaces, luxury residences and cultural attractions. The area will also be connected to other parts of the city via two subway lines.

The Rosewood will include 140 rooms, with 17 suites that offer access to Rosewood’s signature executive lounge, Manor Club. Dining highlights run to an all-day bistro, Chinese restaurant, speciality bar and a patisserie. There will also be a fitness centre, indoor pool and hydrotherapy areas.

Sustainability will play a key role in the build and the property will be designed for both LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and WELL certification. WELL is a performance-based system for measuring and certifying features of the built environment that impact human health and wellbeing. Architect Buro Ole Scheeran says it will work with Rosewood on emphasising the positive impacts that the built environment can have.

“We’re thrilled to further our presence in China,” said Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. “The Wangjiang New City development is an exceptional reflection of Hangzhou’s horizons and Rosewood is excited to be a part of the city’s continued growth.”

Further Rosewood properties in the pipeline include projects in Shanghai and Shenzhen in China and Hoi An in Vietnam.
