Ovolo launches festive quarantine package

Ovolo is making the best of mandatory quarantine in the Christmas run-up.

It’s set to be a very merry Christmas for those travellers quarantining at Hong Kong’s Ovolo hotels.

The hospitality group has now launched ‘A Very Merry Quarantine’ concierge with the hope that those returning residents locked down for 14 days as per government requirements in the run-up to Christmas won't miss out on festive cheer.

Earlier this year, Ovolo was the only property in Hong Kong to embrace quarantine regulations by designing a tailored 14-night Quarantine Concierge service plus add-on benefits including wellness packs, loot bags and in-room yoga and gym equipment.

The innovative approach to what is a tough couple of weeks is paying off and Ovolo says it has now taken more than 1,500 quarantine bookings, most of which are either guests booking directly and repeat family and business guests.

The Christmas concierge includes a Christmas movie night where guests can select from a list of classic holiday films as well as a selection of Netflix shows from 2020. Guests will also have access to complimentary Wifi, Apple TV and Alexa.

A roster of fun activities includes trimming Christmas trees, decorating gingerbread cookies, festive jigsaw puzzles and even a surprise-filled stocking to hang-up.

The Ovolo crew will also be plying guests with seasonal treats such as build-your-own hot cocoa and a ‘happy hour’ with mulled wine and rounds of champagne.

And travellers will be able to work off the extra calories with the Quarantine Concierge yoga mats, gliders and resistance bands.

“A dignified return home” is top of what Ovolo Group chief executive officer and founder Girish Jhunjhnuwala hopes to achieve with his unique approach to what is mandatory isolation for all returning residents to the city. “Creating an emotional connection with our guests is at the centre of everything we do,” he said.

“Ovolo continues to take pride in looking after our fellow Hong Kongers and we are honoured to have them spend such an important time of the year with us,” said Ovolo area general manager Sonesh Mool. “We’re very excited to launch our festive activities over the December period. We hope our guests enjoy these nuggets of surprises even more than we’ve enjoyed putting them together.”

Ovolo was the first hotel to specifically address quarantine guests in the summer when it launched a dedicated quarantine concierge. The original package, which includes in-room ‘mental health’ plants, complimentary breakfast and snacks, wellness kits and HK$1,000 food and beverage credits, will still be offered along with the Christmas extras.

And if guests require anything specific during their stay, the Quarantine Concierge team is happy to collect items during its daily run.

Both Ovolo Central and Ovolo Southside will be offering ‘A Very Merry Quarantine’ concierge. Books should be made online or by email.
