Splashing down at Andamanda, Phuket's biggest (and newest) water park

Spills and thrills at Andamanda Phuket.

Heading to Phuket with the fam? Don’t miss the island’s latest water park, Andamanda Phuket. The multi-million dollar park splashed down earlier this year, promising high jinks for all on myriad rides in five zones.

Andamanda covers more than nine hectares of land halfway between the tourist hubs of Phuket Town and Patong. It’s being billed as Phuket’s largest leisure facility.

“I am confident that Andamanda Phuket will become a destination in its own right,” said Proud Liptapanlop of park developers, Proud Group. “(It’s) helping to attract new visitors to Phuket and stimulating the recovery of travel and tourism in the whole country.”

Indeed, the park’s not short on superlatives; float along the longest lazy river in Asia, or head to the massive wave pool to surf three-metre high breaks, the tallest in Thailand.

Get in the swim in Coral World, The Pearl Palace, Emerald Forest, Great Andaman Bay and Naga Jungle. Each zone boasts rides designed by WhiteWater West, the group behind Atlantis Dubai and Disney.

Unusual touches include a life-size replica of local island Koh Tapu, otherwise known as ‘James Bond Island’, and a floating market inside Naga Kingdom channeling Thai culture and mythology.

More than 200 lifeguards will be keeping an eye on the action and a raft of eco designs have been integrated into the project. The park is powered by solar energy and a continuous loop of water is recycled and reused. More than 100,000 trees have been planted around the park and single-use plastics are banned.

The park is suitable for all ages; children under 90cm can enter free-of-charge. Andamanda is open from 10am to 7pm daily.
