Starlux Airlines launches a Hong Kong route in July

Taiwan’s Starlux Airlines will start flying to Hong Kong this summer.

Starting July 16, the service will include two daily return trips between Taipei and Hong Kong.

The Taipei-Hong Kong route is one of the busiest in the world and Starlux will be competing against several other airlines including Cathay Pacific, China Airlines and Eva Air.

Starlux will fly its premium aircraft, the Airbus A350-900, and the A330-900 on the route. The A350 features first, business, premium economy and economy cabins while the A330 includes first, business and economy seats.

“Starlux’s new route not only reflects our growth strategy but also the importance of Hong Kong as a major aviation hub,” said Starlux chief executive officer Glenn Chai. “Asia’s World City is among the top 20 most visited global destinations, indicating its popularity among international travellers.”

Starlux Airlines launched in 2020 and offers flights to a handful of destinations in Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and Macau.

Meanwhile, Cathay Pacific launched an awards rebate promotion for travel between Taipei and Kaohsiung and Hong Kong on June 1. It runs until July 7 and Asia Miles members can save up to 30% on the miles required if they book by June 9.
