THE ALP opens in Hong Kong's Causeway Bay

Cosy drinks and light bites are the name of the game at THE ALP.

Warm-up in Hong Kong this winter at THE ALP, a ‘Hakuba lodge’ style dining space serving up Japanese-Western fusion dishes and coffees.

Located in the heart of bustling Causeway Bay, THE ALP offers a cosy corner of tranquility with light bites whipped up using Japanese ingredients.

Channelling the Japanese ‘Alps’, the space has been decked out with soft and comfy sofas, brightly coloured cushions and warm floor coverings inside and also boasts a lively space outdoors which will eventually host gigs, brand collaborations, art events and workshops.

Menu items are put together by a team of Nepalese sous chefs led by the Nepalese-born, Italian restaurant-trained chef, Sajal. Highlights include Scattered Soba Bowl with soba, pumpkin and chicken, Beef Mountain Donburi comprising slow-cooked striploin glazed with Japanese mushroom sauce and topped with fried onion and a poached egg, Beef Sando using soft Japanese 'shokupan' milk bread, and Crispy Buttermilk Drumsticks with Nepalese-influenced tamarind puree and crushed pistachio nuts.

Izakaya-style (pub) snacks include Yuzu honey-glazed chicken wings and charcoal-grilled yakitori skewers.

THE ALP also brews a fine line in artisanal coffees, including a locally roasted house blend of beans from Guatemala and Brazil, plus single origin beans, cold brew and hand drip coffee. Chai lattes and mint cucumber lattes are also available.

THE ALP, Unit 302, 3/F, Tower 535, 535 Jaffe Road, Causeway Bay; 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 10.30am to 6pm Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.
