Relax in the hands of medical experts at Layan Life by Anantara
If you’re looking for a wellness break, a luxury resort in Phuket is adding a comprehensive medical wellness facility to its complex this autumn.
Anantara Layan Phuket Resort is located at Layan Beach on Phuket’s west coast. Its purpose-built medical facility, Layan Life by Anantara, is set to open later this year offering both modern medical consultations as well as traditional Thai 'rajasamnak' healing.
Layan Life by Anantara will offer three- to ten-day programmes created by doctors and Thai medicinal experts. Treatments run from medical assessments and diagnostics to tailored nutrition and guided fitness regimes.
At its core, the facility is grounded around the four elements of Thai traditional medicine, earth, water, wind and fire. The bespoke, full-circle approach to holistic wellbeing covers goals such as weight management, de-stress, fitness and anti-ageing.
The facility is slated to open this autumn
The facility is split across two storeys, with the lower level including a gym, yoga studio, pilates studio, meditation rooms and hydrotherapy area with vitality pools, saunas and steam room.
Upstairs, there are medical and holistic facilities, consultation rooms, physiotherapy suites, aesthetic treatments, IV procedures and medical treatments such as Icepod ice baths, a hyperbaric chamber and hydro colonic therapies. There's also a Thai herbal dispensary for personalised scripts.
Outside, the Active Zone includes tennis courts, a Muay Thai ring and an outdoor fitness area with water sports.
Phuket is undergoing something of a development boom at the moment as tourists flock to the island dubbed “the Mallorca of Asia”. Medical tourism is big business for both Phuket and Thailand as a whole as visitors seek to access the country’s high-quality, competitively priced health care. Global cosmetic brand Clinique La Prairie recently announced it was partnering with Montara Hospitality Group to open a residential and hospitality health resort on Phuket with a medical centre, Olympic-sized pool, wellbeing and mindfulness centre and wellness restaurant.
“Phuket is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s premier destinations for medical wellness,” noted Frederic Varnier, vice president for Anantara's parent company Minor Hotels in Southern Thailand. “The launch of Layan Life by Anantara takes this to another level with a personalised and immersive journey that not only focuses on physical wellness, but also nurtures the mind and soul.”
